Mount Royal Station's facilities for students include a metalworking foundry, weaving loft with large-scale looms, dye kitchen, and silkscreen exposure unit.
The building was originally built in 1896 as a B&O passenger train station. It is an official historic landmark, added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. It was also declared an official project of Save America’s Treasures in 2005.
