Summer Study Abroad

Whether you want to paint en plein air in the Burren of Ireland, or study the history of Himayalan Buddhist art on location in India, summer study abroad offers you a once in a lifetime experiential learning opportunity.

Unlike semester programs, MICA students may study abroad through a MICA-affiliated institution, or a program of their own choosing, but must first meet with International Education in order to understand how credits will be transferred back to MICA.

How do I apply?

First, as with any study abroad program, you will need to attend an advising session. Please check out our Required Group Advising Sessions page for details on schedule and location.

Once you've attended group advising, you can complete the Summer Study Abroad Application found here.  Once completed, you will turn in your application and course approval form to International Education in person or by email by the appropriate deadline

Please note that students are required to follow the course selection and approvals process, outlined in detail in the Study Abroad Policies and Expectations page. Any questions concerning course approvals should be directed to International Education. F-1 students returning to their home countries for summer study must also complete the summer study abroad application and course approval form.

And, please be sure to check out MICA's summer/winter Travel Intensives that are managed through Professional and Continuing Studies. You can earn MICA credit while studying abroad on a faculty-led program in exciting locations, such as Peru, France, or Vietnam.
