Ticket Sales & Fundraising

Student organizations are highly encouraged to supplement their budgets through fundraising, whether through ticket sales to events, merchandise, or other means. The Center for Student Engagement can provide support and resources to help with such initiatives:

  1. Seed Money: If a student organization is having a fundraiser or event where it is necessary to “make change,” they can request the cash box from CSE by completing Fundraising & Meyerhoff Tabling Request Form. This should be submitted a least one week prior to the event or fundraiser. CSE will coordinate a pick-up time for the cash box. After the event, cash box should be returned to CSE with all the seed money AND revenue. CSE will deposit the revenue into the student organization’s account.
  2.  Electronic & Online Payment Systems: If a student organization is interested in selling tickets to an event online or accepting card payments in addition to cash, they should contact the Assistant Director of Student Involvement at studentorgs@mica.edu to discuss options.

Fundraiser Policies

  • All fundraisers must be approved by the Center for Student Engagement (CSE) at least one week prior to the date of the event.  Merchandise sales may require additional approval by the College Store Manager.
  • Food items may not include items that have temperature requirements, unless they are provided by Parkhurst Dining Services.
  • Bake sales are not permitted in campus locations that already sell food (Meyerhoff House, Doris Cafe,  etc.) unless otherwise clarified.
  • All bake sale items are REQUIRED to be pre-packaged and/or individually wrapped.  Items can be wrapped in plastic bags or wraps.
  • Student organizations may use club funds to purchase baggies, wrap, or other necessary supplies for fundraisers. Bake sale items should not be purchased with club funds.
  • Merchandise sales may not include items that are currently sold by campus vendors.

 Cash Box Policies

  • Ticket/cash box may only be provided for events that the Center for Student Engagement manages (e.g. cash box will not be provided for a class project).
  • All events must be approved by the Center for Student Engagement (CSE) at least one week prior to the date of the event.
  • Cash box must be picked up the day of the event (cannot be picked up more than 24 hours in advance).
  • For your safety, please call Campus Safety to escort you to your destination when traveling with the cash box.
  • After your event, please return the cash box to CSE. A deposit will be made to your student organization account.
