The different centers and services in Academic Affairs provide support for the MICA community across a wide range of academic, cultural, and creative functions. Our focus is on supporting the educational mission of the College and the diverse needs and interests of all MICA students, staff and faculty.
The Office of Enrollment Services includes Enrollment Services, Academic Advising, and Institutional Research.
As a non-collecting art college, MICA’s exhibition program emphasizes the student experience.Alongside museum-quality, curated exhibitions, much of the calendar is devoted to student conceivedand executed exhibitions. By working directly with MICA students, providing on-hand assistance, tools, and professional development opportunities, the Department of Exhibitions sees its role not only as providers of a much-needed service but also as educators, helping to enable a studio-connected, learning experience.
OIE supports MICA in strategic internationalization efforts with the goal of helping MICA create an inclusive global community. International Education staff members assist international students with F-1 and J-1 immigration policies and procedures, administer education abroad and exchange programs to provide all MICA students with global learning opportunities, and support faculty international efforts.
The mission of the Office of Research (OOR) is to inspire a vibrant research culture at MICA through the strategic development of infrastructure that promotes creativity, knowledge creation, reflective practice, and innovation.
C/TIE supports dynamic teaching at MICA, providing provide training and resources to make teaching and learning practices more accessible, collaborative, and responsive to the unique needs of postsecondary art & design education in the 21st century.
Fabrication Studios facilities are valuable, complex, and diverse resources used by a large portion of the MICA community. There are two types of facilities within Fabrication Studios: campus wide-shops and departmental shops. Access to departmental shops is mostly limited to department majors or students enrolled within a respective departmental course. Campus-wide shops are open to all current MICA students (graduate and undergraduate).
Decker Library empowers the MICA community as knowledge seekers and support research as a creative process.
MICA's Educational Technology, located within The Center for Teaching Innovation & Exchange, provides consultation and direct support to faculty in the effective use of current and emerging technologies within MICA's curriculum.
The Office of Accessibility and Disability Services supports MICA students by providing equal access to educational opportunities to qualified students with documented disabilities, as well as coordinating comprehensive academic support services for all students at the College in an effort to promote the development of academic skills.
We offer one-on-one tutoring sessions, campus-wide and in-class workshops, and instructional resources designed to bolster the written and verbal communication skills of MICA students.
In 2011, MICA acquired more than 75 percent of the historic Globe Poster Printing Corporation's collection of wood type, images, and illustration cuts employed for letterpress and screen printing. Now known as Globe Collection and Press at MICA, the press engages students, faculty, and youth educational programs, as well making new work for non-profits and commercial enterprises.
