MICA Fulbright 2019-2020 Timeline

It is recommended that enrolled students and alumni applying through MICA begin their application research for the 2019/20 Fulbright grant cycle during the Spring of 2018.

Applicants applying through MICA, should attend a campus information session and then must meet with our Fulbright Program Adviser (F.P.A.), Erin Treacy by June 2018.

2019/20 Fulbright U.S. Student Program grant cycle

* Currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate MICA students MUST apply through MICA

* Alumni wishing to apply through MICA, please contact our F.P.A., Erin Treacy, at etreacy@mica.edu.

* MICA deadlines supersede National Fulbright deadlines.

*ALL universities have early deadlines, Fulbright national deadlines are only for applicants applying at-large (not through an institution)

June 1st

Meet with MICA Fulbright Program Adviser (F.P.A.), Erin Treacy

* Meeting can be in person, via Skype, Google Hangouts or by phone

* Review ideas and portfolio

June - July

Weekly Tips email sent. Meet with F.P.A. regularly. 

Create a draft of your project proposal and personal statement.

Correspond with your affiliation(s), and work towards obtaining letter(s) of support from them.

Request letters of reference and obtain a language evaluation (if applicable).

Friday, July 13th

First drafts of proposal and personal statement due – please email to F.P.A., Erin Treacy.

Friday, August 10th

Mandatory Meeting – attend on-campus or virtually

*Revised Essays Due

Monday, September 3, 2018

Application due for all students/alumni applying through MICA
* Submit written application online – do not submit your portfolio

September 7 – 21th

Campus Committee Evaluations
* Each applicant is interviewed by at least two faculty member and will be “recommend” or “not recommended” based on the portfolio and application material. In some instances faculty will request seeing a revised application prior to making their final decision.

After your interview, your application will be returned to you for edits.

Throughout September meet with F.P.A., faculty and the Writing Studio for application revision.

Monday October 1, 2018

Final Applications are submitted online — both written and portfolio.

January 2019: National Screening Committee announces semi-finalists
