Hannah Levy

Hannah Levy is a sculptor based in Brooklyn. She uses the term “design purgatory” to describe the banal objects she repurposes, which include such trade materials as medical devices, pool handrails, and napkin dispensers. Most often rendered in polished steel and vinyl, her work seeks to balance the elements of abstract sculpture and associative assemblage.

 

Mary Mattingly

Mary Mattingly is an interdisciplinary artist based in New York. Mary co-creates sculptural ecosystems that address forms of public food and commons in New York City. In 2020 she was the Brooklyn Public Library’s Artist in Residence and launched Public Water with +More Art, a project that comprised a history of New York City’s Drinking Watershed and a sculpture that mimicked the watershed while cleaning water. In 2016 she co-launched Swale (pictured above), a mobile free public food forest on a barge in New York City. Docked at public piers but following

waterways common laws, Swale circumnavigated New York's public land laws, allowing anyone to pick free fresh food. The project helped instigate the "foodway" in Concrete Plant Park, the Bronx in 2017. Considered a pilot project, the "foodway" is the first time New York City Parks is inviting people to publicly forage in over 100 years. For the past eight months, Mattingly has been working in Glacier National Park in Montana on a water clock called Limnal Lacrimosa.

Whoop Dee Doo is a non-profit arts organization that creates live performances,

immersive installations, and educational programming through community-engaged

collaboration.

 

Since 2006, Whoop Dee Doo has created over 45 large-scale commissioned projects

for organizations including MoMA, The Smart Museum, Loyal (Sweden), Pioneer Works, SFMOMA, POP Montreal, The Contemporary (Baltimore), and Knockdown Center (Queens). Whoop Dee Doo has received a Franklin Furnace Grant, an Abrons Arts Center Fellowship, and was an artist-in-residence at the High Line (NYC).
