Ryan Hoover is an artist who employs a range of digital, biological, and traditional artistic media to explore technology, its history, and the future of its impact on society and the individual.
He holds a dual degree from the University of North Carolina at Asheville in Philosophy and Fine Art (Sculpture) and an MFA from the Mount Royal School of Interdisciplinary Art at the Maryland Institute College of Art. He exhibits internationally and is the recipient of multiple grants and awards. Hoover has played a leading role in the development of MICA's Digital Fabrication Studio, which is the primary area of his teaching. His ongoing research helps to fuel the innovative growth in MICA's curriculum at the intersection of new technologies, making, and social practice.
