Her field of teaching and research is the History of Religions, with a focus on Native American and other Indigenous traditions, ecology, and the materiality of religion. She works with the Indigenous Values Initiative, a group of Indigenous activist-scholars working to educate the public about the devastating consequences of the "Doctrine of Discovery" on Indigenous Peoples and their environments. Her current research investigates the continued vitality of Indigenous religions and their imprint on post-Soviet Lithuania and its diaspora. Dr. Trinkauskaitė has taught at Syracuse University, Hamilton College, and Nazareth College of Rochester, New York. She is an active member of the American Academy of Religion and the Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies. Most recently, she presented at a conference entitled Mother Earth’s Pandemic. Dr. Trinkauskaitė holds PhD, MPhil, and MA degrees in Religion from Syracuse University, and a BA in Religion from Hunter College, City University of New York. She was born and raised in Soviet-occupied Lithuania.
