Courtney Sender teaches creative and academic writing at MICA, and has taught creative writing at Yale and Johns Hopkins universities.

She is the winner of the Glimmer Train fiction open prize, the Boulevard Emerging Writers Contest, and the Lawrence Prize for best story published in Michigan Quarterly Review. A graduate of Yale University and the Johns Hopkins Writing Seminars MFA program, she has received scholarships and fellowships from the MacDowell Colony, the Sewanee Writers' Conference, and the Virginia Quarterly Review Writers' Conference.  She is currently at work on her debut novel, about the intersections of love, history, and cultural identity across the Abrahamic religions.
