He has been awarded various honors over his long career, including: Election to the Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Societies; a Junior Fellowship at the Folger Shakespeare Library, Pennsylvania State University Faculty Research and Scholarship Grants; an National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Fellowship; and the MICA Trustees Award for Excellence in Teaching. His short stories have been published in Forays and Fourteen by Four, and his academic articles have appeared in such journals as Art and Academia and Modern Philology. For many years, Christopher was the Chair of the Department of Humanistic Studies and the director of the Rivals of the West theatre company and created and managed the Theatre Concentration; he is currently the Director of the Alford and Trafford Klots International Program for Artists in Lehon, Brittany, a residency that provides artists with time for uninterrupted work in an inspiring and historic setting made unique by extraordinary light, distinctive landscape, and rich cultural traditions.
