Tony Shore, Chair of the Painting Department at the Maryland Institute College of Art, studied at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, received his BFA from MICA, and his MFA from Yale University School of Art. His awards include The Janet and Walter Sondheim Prize, The Bethesda Painting Prize, several Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Awards, and most recently, he was the recipient of a Baltimore Rubys Artist Project Grant. Recognized for his black velvet paintings of blue collar life in Baltimore, Tony has exhibited his work at the Baltimore Museum of Art, The Delaware Art Museum, The Delaware Center for Contemporary Art, The Noyes Museum, Ethan Cohen Fine Arts, the Kunstalle Beacon, George Adams Gallery, Grimaldis Gallery, as well as many other galleries throughout the U.S.
