Entrepreneurship and creative practice are intertwined for many MICA students seeking purposeful and sustainable pathways post-graduation. The focused yet flexible creative entrepreneurship programming at MICA empowers both artists and designers with a wide range of creative professional tools that support purposeful and successful lives.
The five-course minor in Creative Entrepreneurship allows you to enhance your studio practice with coursework in a broad range of topics that include social entrepreneurship, financial literacy, marketing and organizing strategies; it will empower you with the skills and practices you need to build a business, and develop new strategies to engage and address both small and large scale creative challenges. The minor offers multiple opportunities for experiential learning allowing you to practice and apply entrepreneurial skills in real world settings.
Students will utilize industry standard, world-class technology and selling platforms to simulate, model, execute and launch products, digital marketing initiatives, business plans and pitches.
The Creative Entrepreneurship minor is open to all undergraduate MICA students.
A student who has completed the minor should be able to:
- Envision and implement their own creative business practice.
- Understand basic scalable and ethical creative business practices.
- Articulate how their values inform their creative practice.
Requirements for the Minor in Creative Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship Electives will begin to be offered in Fall 2022. Subject matter may include digital marketing, social entrepreneurship, and growth and scale strategies.
