Managing Your Mountain of Digital Photos with Adobe Lightroom 

ALEX HEILNER

In this workshop, Alex will lead you through an introduction to Adobe Lightroom Classic, which can help you keep your files organized and give you the tools to make your pictures look their best. Alex will give an overview of how the software works with your image files; and demonstrate the fundamental elements of the LIBRARY module (for sorting) and DEVELOP module (for editing). He will also share resources for deeper learning and answer questions about individual participants needs and goals

Typography Basics

Typography is an amazing tool for anyone who creates presentations, documents, social media campaigns, lost kitten flyers, or anything else that sends a message. In this workshop, explore basic typography using the software of your choice (Powerpoint, Google Slides, Keynote, InDesign, Canva, Figma, etc).

Weave a Basket!

Come weave a BASKET. We will be using round reed and very basic twining and weaving methods to form a container for berries or yarn or your car keys!

This session requires materials to be picked up from the MICA store.

Staff must also provide their your own needle nose pliers and wire-cutters/heavy duty cutting tool, a towel or two and a Bucket or dishpan for soaking reed – please immerse reed in warm water ½ hour ahead of workshop.

Do you have hundreds of unused business cards from a bygone era? Sure, we all do! Join me to learn how to fold extra business cards (or paper cut to business card size) into fun geometric shapes. You will need: Business cards (or paper cut to 3.5 in x 2 in) and some tape.

Designing Monograms

Create a custom monogram for yourself or a loved one in the one-hour session exploring letterform pairings. We will discuss inspiring examples from Marie Antoinette to the New York Yankees. After the workshop, all participants will be mailed ten cards with their design, printed on the Riso duplicator in MICAGD.

This interactive workshop will ask participants to investigate their relationship to Baltimore - professionally, personally, and politically - to deepen their understanding and appreciation for the magic that the city brings. Come prepared with an open mind and heart, and for open dialogue across campus!
