MICA’s Benefit Program: Effective June 1st through May 31st.

Core Benefits include: Life and AD/D Insurance, Short Term Disability, and Long Term Disability Insurance.

Shared Benefits include: Medical Insurance, Dental Insurance, and Retirement Plan.

Voluntary Benefits include: Vision Plans, Short Term Disability Plans, Flexible Spending Accounts, and Additional Life Insurance for individuals, spouse/partner, and children.

All full-time, pro-rata faculty and staff are eligible for benefits on the first day of the month following or coinciding with their hire date.

During Open Enrollment each year, you are allowed to make changes in your benefit elections. Those selected changes become effective June 1st. Unless there are certain lifestyle changes in your status, this is the only time you are allowed to make a change in your elections. Written notification of a change in life status for the purpose of modifying your plan is required within 31 days of the qualifying event. Federal law allows employees to change benefits during the year only if a qualifying event occurs.

Note: MICA has a right to change these benefits at its discretion. Changes may be approved by the Board of Trustees (or its Executive Committee), The President or Vice-President and Treasurer of the Institute, or by another official to whom one of these has delegated the amendment power. If you have questions about these or any benefits at Maryland Institute College of Art, contact the People, Belonging & Culture Department at 410-225-2363.
