Learn more about our PreCollege team:

  • Pro Staff
MICA’s PreCollege program has three Pro Staff members: A Program Coordinator, an Assitant Academic Coordinator, and an Assistant Community Coordinator. These positions are held by adult professionals, who are often MICA alumni and art educators, and who live in campus housing throughout the program. The Pro Staff are responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing the goals of the PreCollege program, and oversee all other PreCollege staff members. Pro Staff are trained to support student needs and make programmatic decisions with the support of the Open Studies office. There are also Office Assistants that support students and help the program run smoothly.

These Cell Phones are activated and available July 1 - July 30th

  • Community Assistants
A Community Assistant (CA) is a MICA Undergraduate/Graduate student who works and lives in on-campus housing throughout the duration of the PreCollege program. CA’s share the responsibility of implementing the goals of the PreCollege program by promoting individual and community development through social and educational programming. CA’s are a campus resource, a peer counselor, a community builder, and assist with program policy enforcement. If a CA cannot answer a question, they will refer you to a Pro Staff member. The CA staff are here to help you!

  • Teaching Assistants
A Teaching Assistant (TA) is a MICA Undergraduate/Graduate student who works on-campus throughout the duration of the PreCollege program in classes with students. They assist MICA faculty in the classroom, attend field trips, provide mentorship and feedback, and introduce PreCollege students to the MICA campus and community. TA’s are selected to assist with courses that they have significant experience with, and can assist students as they work. TA’s supervise studio time on Wednesdays and Sundays.

  • Faculty
PreCollege Faculty are typically MICA adjunct faculty members and/or alumni. Faculty provide students with a college level academic experience while understanding that students come to PreCollege with a range of experiences and foundational knowledge. At the conclusion of PreCollege, faculty are asked to recommend students from their course for a specific PreCollege scholarship, through Undergraduate Admission. Students must be admitted to the college to be eligible to receive the scholarship.

  • Open Studies Staff
The PreCollege program is run through the Open Studies office, and full time staff are available throughout the year for any needs, questions, or concerns.
