Why Assessment Matters: The Big Picture

Building on MICA's accomplishments in assessment to date, this keynote focuses, first, on why a shared internally driven commitment to this effort matters to the institution, to all who contribute to student learning, and to students themselves. Second, it identifies the design principles-transparency, coherence, and alignment-that underlie a shared commitment to assessing students' equitable progress toward achieving exit level high-quality ILOs and PLOs.
Diving into the Design Principles

Based on the principles identified in the keynote, this workshop will engage participants in small and large group discussions about how those design principles can be applied, adapted, or refined in programs, courses and educational experiences. Please bring: program curriculum/activity maps and relevant syllabi and assignments (or other learning activities) that align to program outcomes, etc.
