It takes a lot to be accepted at MICA, and it shows in our remarkable student body. MICA students are academically gifted, artistically talented, and well-rounded young adults. Entering students combine high academic achievement with strong visual art portfolios, and many freshmen have already been recognized through national awards and scholarships before they arrive. They also are class valedictorians, award-winning athletes, accomplished musicians, student leaders, dancers, poets, actors.
They are high-performing independent spirits who are rewarded for challenging conventions. MICA regularly enrolls a high percentage of ARTS Presidential Scholars, Scholastic Art Gold Portfolio Winners, Gates Millennium Scholars, and Marie Walsh Sharpe scholarship recipients. The SAT scores of entering freshmen are 222 points above the national average. And 45 percent of MICA students come from beyond the mid-Atlantic and Northeast United States. This truly is a national college.
