Decker Library's Course Reserve service ensures that students have access to essential course materials. Faculty can utilize this service through the following processes:
How to Request Course Reserve
- Submit Your Reserves List: Send your list to Access Services via this form.
- Processing Time: Materials in the library's collection may take up to two days to be placed on Reserve. Items that must be purchased can take approximately two to six weeks, depending on availability.
- Item Limitations: Only one copy of an item will be placed on Reserve. Items owned by other libraries or rental companies will not be placed on Reserve or Hold.
- Faculty Privileges: Faculty are allowed extended due dates for Reserve items for classroom use. Personal items owned by Faculty can be placed on Reserve, and must be picked up at the end of each semester.
Placing Items on Reserve
- Timing: Items will be pulled as soon as the list is received from faculty.
- Availability: Faculty will be notified if there are any availability issues.
- Return to Collection: After the date has passed, items will be returned to the collection for regular circulation.
DVD/Blu-Ray Reserves
The course instructor must be present when DVD/Blu-Ray Reserves are circulated for use in the classroom unless a signed TA Checkout Form has been provided. The material can be checked out to the faculty member or an approved TA for up to 24 hours.
For In-Classroom Screenings of Items in the Film & Video Collection
- Scheduling: Screening dates should be scheduled when materials are needed for classroom sessions, but students are not expected to view the film outside of class.
- Availability: Items will be pulled from circulation two weeks prior to the provided screening date. Faculty will be notified if there are any availability issues.
- Checkout Requirements: The course instructor must be present to check out materials for screening dates unless a signed TA Checkout Form has been provided.
