INFORMATION FOR MICA STUDENTS, STAFF, AND FACULTY

Current MICA students, staff, and faculty: Your MICA ID card is your library card! Additionally, current MICA community members have access to our article and media databases and electronic resources, such as ebooks.

USERS FROM AREA COLLEGES/UNIVERSITIES (BALC)

Baltimore Academic Libraries Consortium (or BALC) allows for reciprocal borrowing of circulating materials for students who attend colleges and universities that are part of the consortium.

MICA students can borrow materials from BALC institutions with a valid MICA ID (please be sure to check each individual library's borrowing policies).

JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY MEMBERS

MICA and JHU have a special reciprocal borrowing relationship. Borrowers must present a valid institution ID card to participate on-site and login to their home institution's account for authentication. Basic borrowing privileges apply.

ALUMNI

Alumni can purchase an alumni card for an annual fee of $25. The library card will allow alumni to borrow circulating material. For more information, please see our Alumni Card  page.

GENERAL PUBLIC

Decker Library welcomes the public seeking to perform art and design-based research. Visitors will be asked to present an ID card to Campus Safety at the visitor desk located at the entrance to Bunting Center.

Space Policies

Be Kind and Be Aware

Decker Library is committed to an atmosphere conducive to creative exploration, research, and study.

Covered beverages and cold food are allowed in the library as long as there are no artists' books, archives, or special collections present.

Behavior or individuals which disrupts or obstructs the library-related work and activities of the MICA community is prohibited. To report disruptive activity, go to the Access Services desk on the upper floor of the library or call 410-225-2272.

Computers, Scanning, Copying & Printing

Use Us!

COMPUTERS AND WIRELESS ACCESS
Library users may use the public computers to access the library catalog and electronic resources. Visitors may use the public wifi and provided outlets for personal devices.

COPY, PRINT, AND SCAN
The printer and copier, which has a built-in scanner, are both available for self-service.

The library printer is generally for printing text-based documents, such as articles or typed papers for courses. Please note that the printer and copier are not regularly calibrated. Please take any studio output to the Art Tech Center for quality printing.

Emergency Closings

Oh No, The Library's Not Open?!

Decker Library will be closed or have delayed openings whenever MICA announces a closure or delay.

If the library is understaffed due to an emergency, library staff on-site will make a determination about our ability to be open.

We will try to post to social media platforms, particularly our Twitter Account, for closures, delays, and emergencies.

Donations

We Want History!

At this time we are only able to accept donations that will enhance and contribute to our Special Collections. Special Collections include rare books, artists’ books, design material samples, and archival collections or records, including AV materials directly relevant to MICA.

Before donating, prospective donors must first complete our Donation Form. Please have an itemized list ready before filling out form.
