Check First:  Does Your Institution have an Exchange Agreement with MICA?

Take a moment to consult with the study abroad and exchange office of your home institution to determine if the Maryland Institute College of Art is an exchange partner.  Next, read and review the information on the MICA Fact Sheet and share this information with the exchange adviser at your home school.  The Office of International Education at MICA is also a member of the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design (AICAD) consortium, which supports domestic exchange between member schools, and some overseas partner institutions.  For more information about AICAD, and to see if your institution is a member, please visit the AICAD website for further details.  Please make sure to share the following important information with your exchange adviser:

Exchange Application Nomination Deadlines - Please Review the MICA Fact Sheet:

  • For Fall semester exchange (late-August to mid-December):  April 1
  • For Spring semester (late-January to mid-May):  October 1
    • Note:  prospective exchange students will not be permitted to start an exchange application 1 week prior to the deadline)

At this time, MICA is not able to support applications for non-matriculating (visiting students) outside of our student exchange agreements.  If you wish to attend MICA to complete an accredited 4-year degree program, please consult the MICA Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

How Much Does it Cost to be an Exchange Student at MICA?

Trying to figure out your budget? There are costs associated with becoming an exchange student. Although MICA does not expect you to pay our tuition fee, there are expenses involved with your participation. Application Process - Apply Here

We are currently accepting applications for the Spring 2025 semester (Late- January to Early-May 2025). The deadline is Tuesday, October 1, 2024 - prospective exchange students are not permitted to start an application 1 week before the deadline. Your home school exchange adviser must nominate you no later than 1 month before the application deadline.
