Dear Fellow MICA Staff Members,
As mentioned in previous memos, MICA is committed to keeping you up to date with the latest campus news and information during the COVID-19 global health crisis. To that end, this memo serves to provide new information relevant to our Staff Community.
NEW STAFF-FOCUSED FAQ
The learnings and insights gleaned from the thoughtful questions and discussion that took place during the March 17 Staff Town Hall have helped further shape and clarify our policies and procedures surrounding remote work, benefits, and campus operations. To help provide additional clarity and understanding on these topics, a new Staff FAQ document has been created representing our most up-to-date policies and plans.
The FAQ is available on MICA’s COVID-19 Website. We encourage everyone to read it and if you have further questions, please contact your managers or submit a question to Human Resources using this form.
CAMPUS OPERATIONS AND BUILDING ACCESSIBILITY
As the State of Maryland enacts increasingly strict policies curtailing operations of non-essential businesses, MICA will continue to adapt its operations accordingly.
As of March 27:
-
Lazarus Studio, Brown, Fox, and 81 Mosher are open until 11 p.m. tonight, March 27, and are accessible by card swipe for graduate students, staff, and faculty for the purpose of moving out of their studios and/or obtaining equipment or materials to work remotely.
-
All other buildings are open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and are accessible by card swipe to staff and faculty only. Access is solely for employees who need to obtain items needed to work remotely, and not for in-office work.
-
After March 27, all academic buildings will be closed for all students, staff and faculty.
-
Employees who need to access academic buildings will need to make arrangements with campus safety prior to their arrival on campus. Access will only be granted Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. In order to contact campus safety, please call the non emergency number at 410-225-2245.
JOB MATCHING EXCHANGE PROGRAM
Human resources has just introduced the Job Matching Exchange Program for regular full-time and part-time staff. This exchange program represents the College’s deep commitment to the well-being of our staff — empowering them to match the talents, skills, and knowledge of our regular full-time and part-time employees with existing and emergent departmental opportunities across campus. Please check your @mica.edu email to learn more about this important initiative.
YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT
As always, we are thankful for your patience, resilience, and incredibly hard work during this uncertain and stressful time. We will continue to keep you informed through our official channels and wish all of the MICA community a safe and healthy weekend.
