Dive into this Surrealist art game where you'll collaborate with others to create a whimsical and unpredictable drawing. Each person adds to the artwork without knowing what came before, resulting in surprising and imaginative outcomes. Join us for a fun and creative experience!

Explore traditional art techniques in this hands-on workshop led by Painting & Drawing faculty, where you'll learn how to create your own ink and paint from raw materials. It's a unique opportunity to craft your own art supplies while gaining insight into the process behind the pigments.

Kick off your MICA Weekend with an engaging reception celebrating Bill Gaskins' Black Mystery Month. This thought-provoking exhibition features thirty black-and-white photographs with scrambled, backwards text, creating interactive puzzles for viewers. The works highlight notable Black Americans such as Dr. Carter G. Woodson and Viola Fauver Liuzzo, challenging and expanding our understanding of American history. Additionally, Gaskins' video, Mystery Lessons, delves into the complexities of racial tensions and misconceptions surrounding Black History Month. Join us for an evening of art, reflection, and conversation to start your MICA Weekend on a powerful note.

During this fun open studio you will try your hand at letterpress printing and roll a poster through a letterpress to print a poster designed with wood type from the historic Globe Collection and see some of the many treasures in Globe's archive.

Get a taste of MICA’s science curriculum! MICA students have many options for science classes, including ecology of food and farming, microbiology, climate change, water science, and much more. MICA’s full-time science faculty will lead short versions of some favorite classroom activities like making sauerkraut to use as a model system for microbial ecology, and answer your questions about the role of science in art and design education.
