Can social intimacy be maintained at a distance? How might we use design to help heal, bodily and psychologically? Cocoon is a fictional therapy blanket that acts as a companion during times of loneliness. It visualizes a bridge between people experiencing physically distant relationships or who are in different locations, fostering the idea of togetherness. Sensory experiences are intrinsically connected to our emotions. Cocoon engages four senses (touch, smell, sight, and sound). The project visualizes an imaginary interface on the blanket to activate sensorial cues when you experience loneliness. Cocoon offers a meditative space to those missing what a digital screen cannot give; the hugs, the touch, the physical connection.
