Reaching is an anonymous crowd- sourced index of the things that we reach for in our moments of despair, misery, depression, and grief. It reports anonymously all of the media, music, art, and food we feel compelled to keep nearby in our worst and most difficult moments. The intention of this project is to be in direct opposition to the multitude of inauthentic grief “resources” that exist on the web today, which serve the primary purpose of marketing for corporate healthcare structures.
The website, which is its primary form, is easily navigable, visually compelling, and designed to reflect the deeply personal nature of the project. It also takes the form of a zine, a playlist, and social media content. These all serve to help people to feel less alone in their actions, to find a catalog for distraction, or to use as a glossary of wallowing companions.
