Theatre (Concentration)

Theatre is art in action and the concentration consists of a series of core courses where students “learn by doing together.”

Organized around the production of an annual live dramatic performance, students will expand their transdisciplinary approaches to creative processes of collaboration, drawing on all their arts, intellectual, and social backgrounds.

The annual shows run the gamut of performance forms, including scripted theatre musicals, dance, devised performances, pop-ups, multi-media events, and others. Students will have opportunities to manage almost any aspect of the production that interests them, which might include acting, directing, choreography, dramaturgy, costume, set, prop, sound, and lighting design, stage and technical management, and set construction. Students can also act as arts administrators who design, produce, distribute, and maintain publicity campaigns and materials such as posters, programs, websites, media ads, and community outreach. The play is the thing and welcome to the show!
