Peter Karis came to Baltimore, Maryland in 2004 to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Maryland Institute College of Art.

After graduating in 2007, he worked at St. Mary's College of Maryland in the Art Department and Boyden Gallery. In 2009 he attended the University of Maryland, College Park. While there he worked on kinetic sculpture, metal casting, machining, and attained a Masters of Fine Arts degree in 2012. Later that year he was hired at the Maryland Institute College of Art to manage the Sculpture Studios in the Interdisciplinary Sculpture Department and began teaching Mold Making, Metal Casting, and Metal Fabrication.

Peter's artistic process typically begins as a simple sketch of an idea, refined in digital design, and ultimately fabricated or cast. He also fabricates and casts work for other artists and companies along the east coast. He has a studio in South Baltimore which can accommodate CNC plasma cutting, digital design, 3D printing, machining, metal fabrication of steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, metal and plastic casting and finishing work.
