Animation (Major)

Erinn Hagertty

Erinn Hagerty is a multidisciplinary artist employing animation, film and video, kinetic sculpture and installation, whose work focuses on the ubiquitous and contradictory nature of loss, being both instantaneous and infinite.

She earned an M.F.A. from the Mount Royal School of Art at MICA and a B.A. in fine arts (concentrating in animation and graphic design) from the University of Pennsylvania. She is currently creating the collaborative film series, Intimacies of Geometry, which combines narrative soundtracks and abstract visuals to create a space for reflecting on the nature of relationships.

While developing her own work, she has also produced animations for children's series, operas, museums, and exhibitions. Her personal and group productions have been exhibited and screened internationally, including at School 33 Art Center (Baltimore, Md.), Fordham University (New York, N.Y.), Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) (Philadelphia, Pa.), Lincoln Center (New York, N.Y.), the Prince Music Theater (Philadelphia, Pa.), and The Bridge Cinema De Lux (Philadelphia, Pa.). Before becoming full-time faculty at MICA in 2016, she taught at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia University and Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
