The interest in animation is greater than ever. Groundbreaking animation is in demand, requiring animators to be agile, and to take creative risks.

MICA's Animation Department teaches the art of animation but also teaches creative agility - helping you respond to the ways that technology and science transform the potential of the medium. You are encouraged to develop a personal voice, take creative risks, thrive through collaboration and become innovators in the field.

Animation majors work on real-world projects

Space Age Animation

Animation majors have the opportunity to work with outside partners, including scientists at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland. In recent years, our students have teamed with the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope team at Goddard to translate astrophysics concepts info animation. The results include short animated films, exploring such themes as binary stars and cosmic rays, that are helping NASA educate the public about the Fermi telescope and the science behind it.
