Andy Kirk is emeritus faculty and was part of the program's inaugural year faculty.

He is a UK-based freelance data visualization specialist, consultant, speaker, author, and editor of visualisingdata.com. He joined MICA as a visiting lecturer in 2013 and has been teaching in the Information Visualization program since its inception. Before freelancing, Andy held a number of business analysis and information management positions at some of the largest organizations in the UK, including West Yorkshire Police and the University of Leeds. In 2009, Andy completed a Masters by Research M.A (Distinction) program at the University of Leeds, studying the subject of data visualization. He is the author of two books: Data Visualization: A Successful Design Process (2012) and Data Visualization: A Handbook for Data Driven Design (2016).
